Donation of 100 Augmented Reality Books on Shepherding in Psiloritis to the Region of Crete

“There are more treasures in books than in the entire loot of pirates on Treasure Island.”
With this phrase by one of the architects of our childhood, Walt Disney, we believe that the book—and even more so the children’s book—can become a window to the world and a bridge between generations.

As the Androidus – Argastiri Cultural Organization and Cultural Network, with great joy and a strong sense of responsibility for our work, we proceeded with the donation of 100 copies of the interactive augmented reality book entitled “Shepherding and the World of the Shepherd in Psiloritis” to the Region of Crete and the Deputy Region for Culture and Equality, in cooperation with the Deputy Regional Governor, Ms. Georgia Milaki.

This initiative is implemented within the framework of our Organization’s corporate social responsibility, as a symbolic return to the mountainous communities of Psiloritis of elements that we have collected.

Experiences, memories, narratives, and living heritages that, for us, constitute the Crete that deserves to be told and preserved.

The book harnesses the possibilities of augmented reality technology, inviting students, parents, educators, and cultural institutions to an interactive journey into the authentic, living, and real world of the shepherding tradition of Psiloritis.

We warmly thank the Region of Crete, the Regional Governor Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, and the Deputy Regional Governor Ms. Georgia Milaki for their trust and their longstanding support of initiatives that highlight the cultural heritage of our place.

In a world that is changing, our cultural and intellectual capital is a lever for reflection, redirection, and the activation of a society that draws from its roots, transforms the trunk, and inspires the shoots on the tree of tomorrow’s Crete.
