The 4th European Wool Meeting and opening new pathways for the thread

The 4th European Wool Meeting in Metsovo is approaching, and we are very pleased to prepare our participation as a joint delegation with the Municipality of Anogeia, following the invitation of the host Municipality of Metsovo, the European Wool Organization (EWE), the Zagori Ecomuseum, and the Egnatia Epirus Foundation.

As the only organization participating from Crete, our contribution to the Metsovo roundtable will focus on highlighting locality as a new field for global exchange and collaboration, in a time that calls for synergies and connections between the local and the digital, and between tradition and innovation.

Our presentation, titled “The Wool Cycle from the Mountain Communities of Psiloritis as a glocal approach: from traditional looms to social innovation,” aims to showcase the cultural characteristics of our region in the field of weaving, extending them into contemporary art, education, and new technologies that can give them new life.

As the only organization from Crete taking part, we recognize the importance of sharing and spreading the outcomes of this meeting, so that wool and its potential applications across a wide range of activities become part of public dialogue, helping us move from discussion to the opening of new pathways for the thread.
