The Anatomy of Supplication. Discovering the event through its space, time and contributors.

Forced flight for survival and the need to seek escape and protection of people from the “father of all,” war, according to Heraclitus, give birth to Supplication as a timeless, universal and deeply human appeal for help, from the depths of antiquity to the harsh present and the uncertain future.

The suppliant and the ritual practice of supplication constituted unwritten institutions with divine origin and validation, as their protector in Greek antiquity was considered to be the Cretan-born Zeus.

Our approach to the completion of 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe led to the creation of the following booklet, with visual design by the designer Giannis Oikonomakis, content and photographic material edited by Giorgis Kalomoiris, Marina Geronti and Antonis Dagiantas, and with the scientific contribution of Diamantis Panagiotopoulos and Eleni Psaradaki.
